Visionary Artist
Shiloh Sophia Mccloud
The work of a visionary is to know the past,
dream the future and take powerful action in the present.
I think of my paintings as sacred art icons. They are prayers for the world and offerings of love, hope and rest, as well as devotions of gratitude and praise to the Divine.
Creating art is a very integral part of my spiritual practice. Everything I create is rooted in my desire to ease the suffering of the world. Some of us serve in soup kitchens. Some of us are marching. Some hold the hands of the dying. Some of us teach. Some fight. Some pray. And some of us create intentional art.
A lot of my work reflects family, friendship, lovers, peace, healing, possibility, transformation and moments of joy. Many are inspired by the Madonna, who becomes available in the painting as our own Mother. She nurses her child, she hears our prayers, she creates miracles, she heals our hearts, and she calls us to peace within.
The images themselves depict a moment in time when the being in the painting is experiencing a mystical, blissful, peaceful, and fulfilling moment. The painting holds that possibility for us when we view it—we experience the feeling we are “seeing.” And it reminds us of what is possible for our own lives. In this way, the collectors of my work actually speak of “using” the paintings to feel better. I love this!
Creating art in this manner is a gift I feel was given to me by Creator, an awakening to my role in this grand mystery. Immediately after I began painting on a regular basis, it was made clear to me that I was to share the “way” I was creating with others so that art as a path of healing could become more available. So I have—for over 14 years! Hallelujah! I hope that if you are reading this right now, that you are called to create!
