Mind States

One Amazing Woman

by Sydney L. Murray

sylvia1It is almost incomprehensible for me to think about the life that Sylvia Browne has lived. For 55 years, she has been helping people resolve issues with loved ones that have passed over, as well as supporting them with current issues in their lives. Her direct delivery in speaking to people is one of my favorite things about her. No matter what, she is unabashedly authentic. If you love her, there is no way you are ever going to change your mind. She is a strong, opinionated woman.
For those of you in Southern California or for those willing to travel, Sylvia Browne is in the midst of her Farewell Tour. After that, she is not going to travel so much and will take some time for herself and her loved ones. Recently I had the great opportunity to speak with her.

Vision Magazine: When did you know that you were psychic?
Sylvia Browne: My parents tell me they knew I was psychic when I was three years old; I was aware of it at age five. The moment I knew was when I realized both of my great grandmothers were going to die in two weeks. That wasn’t a great way to be introduced to it, but that was it. I am part of three generations of psychics–my mother was psychic, as well as my grandmother. Her mother was psychic, along with her great uncle. Now my granddaughter is psychic too, so it just goes right down the line genetically.
I do believe it [being psychic] is a gift from God but I also believe we have chosen to have it genetically presupposed.

VM: What does it feel like to help so many people?
SB: I feel good that I can help people and that is the main thing. I never feel overwhelmed. I just want to get to people faster—that’s the one thing that bothers me. I wish I could help them more quickly.
Over my 55 years of helping people, there have been so many stories—too many to tell. I just recently helped solve a murder case on the TV show, “America’s Most Wanted.” All of the people I help are just wonderful.

VM: Tell us about your new book and why you think our pets are so special.
SB: I think pets are God’s angels here on earth. They are here to show us how not to be so obsessed with material things. They teach us patience. The unconditional love they offer is so incredible. The reason I wrote my book, All Pets Go to Heaven is because I got sick and tired of hearing religious people say that animals don’t have souls. That is so wrong. The book will be launched in January but you can order it now on Amazon.com or through my office.

VM: What do you look forward to in the coming year?
SB: I am looking forward to going on more cruises, as well as the final appearances in my Farewell Tour. I will still appear at some Indian Casinos because those are really nice for me to do. But I am not going to keep the schedule I have done because I just want to spend some time at home for a change. I have been on the road for 30 years. That’s a long time.

VM: What’s your favorite part of the day?
SB: Every part of the day is great for me. I love all of it. All of God’s creations are good. I will tell you one thing though: I enjoy the morning more when I’ve had my coffee.

VM: What can each one of us do to change the world?
SB: Do something every day for someone else. It can be a small thing like letting someone in line in front of you. Recently, my fiancé helped a woman who didn’t have enough money for gas; she was a dollar short and he gave her a dollar. These are small things but they really add up. It’s sort of like paying it forward. And how much does it take to call a friend? Or visit someone in the hospital to cheer them up? Or give 30 minutes to volunteer your time to someone in need?
We sit around on our you-know-whats and watch television when we could be doing something to help others.

VM: What can we look forward to in your upcoming California appearances?
SB: I put a lot of humor in my shows and impart a lot of spiritual information because I am so sick and tired of this fearful God. We have a loving God and I talk to people about how to increase their spirituality and be happier.
And that doesn’t mean sitting around, chanting and praying all day. Like I have always said, “Love God, do good, and shut up and go home.”

VM: Tell me about why this is your farewell tour.
SB: Well it is my farewell tour as far as going to every city and traveling all of the time. As I mentioned, I will be doing guest appearances at Indian Casinos but I am not going to always be traveling all over the place to of all the big cities. I do have four cruises coming up. We’re going to Mexico, Alaska, Ireland and to the Caribbean.
I am also going to get married on February 19. It’s going to be a spiritual ceremony because I don’t really go along with all of that legal stuff.

VM: What do you see for 2009?
SB: I think that with Barack Obama, we are going to see a marvelous recovery. Not completely, but we are going to see everything become more sane around the late spring and early summer. That is the one thing about Americans—we bounce back. We bounced back after the Great Depression and we bounced back after 9/11. There is something in the American spirit that just keeps bouncing back every time. And I think people should quit listening to all of the bad news because it makes them crazy.
What people don’t realize is that when they say there is 7 percent unemployment, this also means that there is 93 percent employment. There are so many people who are still working.
One thing to remember is that this New Year is a nine-year which is a triple trinity year. If you add nine and two up, you get 11 and in numerology that is the highest form of spirituality.
So come see me in Santa Barbara, Palm Springs and Pasadena. I would love to be part of your new year.
