Visionary Artist
Janice Fried
Coming from a family of artists, it was natural for me to express myself visually.
A graduate of Parson’s School of Design, my illustrations have been used by children’s trade, educational, and inspirational publishers. My work has also appeared in magazines, newspapers, advertising, greeting cards and music books.
I work in a mixed media style combining watercolor, colored pencil, pen and ink, collage elements, and a technique that is similar to scratchboard.
My ideas usually come in the quiet hours of the morning but often some other visual element will stimulate my creativity, such as a picture from a magazine, an old photo, or an entry from an outdated encyclopedia.
The image on the cover of this month’s issue of Vision Magazine was created as part of a deck of Healing Cards written by Carolyn Myss and published by Hay House Publishers.
