Visionary Artist
Mohamed Buwe Osman, MD
Art is a strong feeling that communicates with the creative spheres of the human brain. The colors of art are ubiquitous, existing independently from our conscious world. They convey a mysterious energy which surrounds us. The subconscious part of me strives to capture this invisible energy, which is first transmitted to the creative part of the brain and then translated into fine colorful art images.
As a self-taught artist, I am inspired by what I see, feel, touch, remember, dream and experience in my life. My place of birth is Somalia, East Africa. Like any other African artist, I am trying to explore, discover and create images that would match the true meaning of contemporary African art.
As a physician, I strive to integrate my knowledge of medicine into a universal art. I believe that medicine is inseparable from art. It is a complementary medicine capable of healing patients in conjunction with conventional medicine.
I am inspired by my patients. Their medical conditions are the themes of my artwork.
While attending medical school in Russia, I was besieged by the rich culture of art and literature in Europe. Practicing medicine is my life’s priority and art is my spiritual companion. Icannot imagine art without the energy and power of universal colors.
