Aries: Hermit (Page of Swords)
3/21-4/19: Self-reflection is one of the most valuable tools for carving away at the façade. When you feel tired of constantly working to please others or trying to fit into something too rigid, pause and take a moment to reflect. This month offers you time to reconnect with who you are beyond definitions and titles. Loneliness and fatigue are signs that your soul is yearning for more; listen to your inner voice for advice. Around the 9th, a close friend or colleague may suddenly withdraw. Be sure to follow up with him or her, or a small misunderstanding could easily escalate.

Forgiveness can be a very beautiful and healing act. We can learn to forgive ourselves for some perceived inadequacy, or set aside rancor as we come to terms with the harm someone has done. Nonetheless, forgiveness is not something we should either universally or casually hand out.

Dear Readers:
I love to walk around the weekly farmers market in the little beach town that I call home. Friendly farmers, bakers and chefs offer treats to sample, tempting and delighting the passerby. The day I discovered Nature’z Candyz, my outlook on snack foods completely changed.
Over the years, skiing, snowboarding and surfing have wreaked havoc on my 40-something-year-old knees. And being the type of person who never takes over-the-counter pain killers, I would often have to endure this pain.
From holiday feasts to full tummies, we celebrate Thanksgiving by immersing ourselves in the moment. We enjoy ourselves by coming together and sharing our food and memories. We reflect on our country, our faith and our family. The day-long (or sometimes week-long) preparation of one meal testifies to the significance of the day.
Structural Integration (SI) is a form of deep tissue bodywork that incorporates movement and posture education. Joy K. came to me for SI sessions about a year ago. Having already received a series of ten sessions, she was ready for advanced work on a physical and emotional level.
I have collected heart stones for years, reflecting not only my fascination for stones but also for these unique symbols of our universal feelings of love, strength, passion and imagination. One of my favorite heart stones comes from the red rocks of Sedona, a burnt-orange roughly hewn stone spun forth from the powers of Mother Earth. When I discovered the adorable book, Heart Stones, by Josie Iselin, I knew I had found a kindred spirit.
I know that the one gift I can give every holiday season that seems to reach out to almost everyone I know is the beautiful desk calendar by Self Realization Fellowship called the Inner Reflections Engagement Calendar.
The winter holiday season can be pretty hectic and may not leave much time to shop for presents. We generally rush around at the last minute trying to get that extra special gift, zipping through traffic, likely being held up by hordes of shoppers doing exactly the same thing.
Nations of San Diego International Dance Festival is Southern California’s largest ethnic dance festival showcasing the rich cultural heritage and diversity of the region. This cross-cultural collaboration presents five performances Nov. 21-23, bringing together over 200 extraordinary dancers representing cultures from around the globe.
I try to live with awareness everyday and to be truly awake. This involves a constant effort to act as my mind and soul directs, and not merely react to various situations that life throws at me. I will myself to be conscious of my thoughts and feelings so I can choose which of them I want to pursue, thereby making my actions truly my own and not momentary reflexes that may possibly harm myself or others.
I miss the good old days. I do. It’s not fashionable to admit it, but I grew up in a time when there were “gaps”—socio-cultural fissures that ran long and deep between contrasting sectors of the public. There was The Generation Gap, The Gender Gap, and The Credibility Gap.
