Baobab Butter

I practically live outside and am constantly near or in the water, so I’ve got dry skin, especially on my knees, ankles and elbows. I love using body butter because it keeps my skin moisturized for a long time, and I don’t have to lug around a giant tub in my purse. So you can probably imagine how excited I was when Epoch came out with Baobab Body Butter, which has enthnobotanicals, Macadamia Nut Oil, and Shea Butter combined with the Malawi Baobab Tree extract. The Baobab tree is known for having a high amount of water stored in its trunk, which can reach up to 120,000 liters, so you know this butter is great for keeping your skin super hydrated, even if you get your hands wet a lot.

But unlike other butters I’ve used, this one didn’t leave my skin all greasy, and the smell is very faint and actually fades away. What sets apart the Baobab Body Butter from others is the fact that for each butter tub sold, some of the profit goes to the Nu Skin For Good Foundation for the Malawi Seeds of Hope project, which focuses on reforestation and conservation of baobab trees in local Malawi villages. These trees provide water and nourishment during dry seasons in Malawi, and keep the people in these villages alive. This way, I’m spoiling my skin by keeping it hydrated, and I’m helping people that I probably wouldn’t have had a chance to help otherwise. – AV

Positively Green Greeting Cards

There’s nothing better than when I receive a letter from a close friend that I haven’t seen in a while, and sending cards in reply. But it’s always bugged me that I’m sending notes on paper that’s taken a toll on the environment. That’s why I was excited when I found the Positively Green Greeting Cards, which are made entirely from recycled paper, soy based ink, and are shipped with minimal packing. These cards are really bright, and spread a positive message with inspiring words that will leave you with a smile on your face. Quotes on the cover come from famous inspirers such as Aristotle, George Eliot, and J.M. Laurence, but my favorite part about the cards is the fact that ten percent of the money that I spent on them is going to a non-profit organization that is working to save the planet. So if I’m using the card to send a birthday wish or a thank you note, I’m supporting an environmental cause! Another bonus is that on the back of each of the 48 cards, are simple, handy tips to living a greener lifestyle. For example, Tip #27: Save energy and increase the life of your computer by putting it to sleep during the day instead of using screen savers. At night, turn it off completely. Simple tips like this along with links that connect you to environmental organizations to help you go green make it that much easier to keep leaving little notes for people I care for. In fact, I just sent one to my friend, who loved the card with its message as much as I did. I’m definitely going to order more of these for myself, and maybe get some for my mom, too! – AV
