Change Your Life with One Simple Test
by Sydney L. Murray
So many of us eat well, exercise and utilize herbs or other holistic modalities to maintain a healthy body and life. Now, in addition to a healthy lifestyle, there is a diagnostic test that is safe and could literally save your life. It is called thermography, which is high-resolution imaging using infrared light.
The use of thermography, or heat differentiation, to detect human disease or ailments has been documented in medical literature for centuries. As early as 400 B.C., physicians would cover a patient's body with wet clay or mud. Where the substance dried first was considered to be the potentially diseased part of the body. Hippocrates is quoted as saying "should one part of the body be colder or hotter than the other, disease is present in that part.‚"
In 1956, Dr. Ray Lawson wrote the first published medical application for modern thermography entitled Implications of Surface Temperature in the Diagnosis of Breast Cancer. To date, the primary utilization of thermography has been to assess pain syndromes, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and breast cancer. Many other types of conditions are also evaluated with thermography, but their results are not as widely published.
Infrared light is above the visible light spectrum and is considered non-invasive. Because of this, thermography poses no danger to patients and tests can be run as often as desired without fear of complications. I believe that women should include breast thermography as part of their regular breast health care. Thermography has the unique ability to monitor the individual thermal "map‚" of a woman's breasts. Any change in this map over the course of months and years can be an early indication of possible tumors or other abnormalities. In fact, studies have shown that an abnormal infrared image is the single most important indicator of high risk for developing breast cancer.
Recently
I had the opportunity to experience this technology. I had a full body
scan with Linda Hayes, who was incredibly informative and efficient. She
has been doing these tests for years. Until recently, however, she had
giving them primarily for pain evaluation. Then I met with Bill McCulley,
who is the Director of Operations at ThermoBodyScan in La Jolla. He spoke
passionately about this diagnostic test.
"People want to be in charge of their own health and choose more holistic
treatments and therapies,‚" McCulley explains. "If you don't
take care of conditions now, they could be a serious problem later. We
have the technology and the ability to change our destiny.
"Certain
conditions may not occur if you have early detection today. Think of the
saying: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I recommend that
if you are going to have a mammogram, this test (thermography) should be
your first line of screening. And if your doctor recommends getting a mammogram,
get it.
"With both of these tests informing you rather than any single modality,
the best thing that you can achieve is a higher level of accuracy,‚" says
McCulley. "Or, try an ultrasound in lieu of a mammogram to avoid radiation
or the possibility of a ruptured cyst. I've read many articles and reports
from major clinical trial studies, both from internationally recognized
hospitals and clinical labs. These studies report that every time you introduce
radiation to a women's body, it increases her chances of obtaining cancer
by up to five percent—and that percentage is cumulative. There are other
applications of thermography, such as to detect the source of unexplained
pain.
"With this procedure, we are looking at your body on a physiological level and are seeing the physiological changes on a cellular level,‚" adds McCulley. "We can see the blood flow, so we can determine whether a patient is at risk for a coronary. We offer the equivalent of twenty tests for a really modest fee. I don't know of any other modality that can pick up as many conditions for the price we offer. Thermography is affordable, available and it is saving lives. The thermography test can detect possible stroke, heart disease, TMJ, headache issues, sinus issues, PAD, (peripheral arterial disease,) esophageal problems and acid reflux that can lead to cancer.‚"
The people at ThermoBodyScan are committed to improving the lives of all who enter their doors. This simple test could literally save your life, since early detection of many conditions can be the difference between a long and healthy life and one tragically cut short.
