Moving Deeper into the Law of Attraction
by Joseph Prekutoski, CMT
There is a lot of buzz about “The Law of Attraction” going around right now. Movies such as The Secret and What the #$*! Do We Know!? have brought the Law to the forefront of popular culture. Mass consciousness is now fertile to grow in these once-secret esoteric understandings. All this focus can lead to an expansion of inner freedom and creativity if we open to the possibilities offered through the Law.
However, it is also the case with many ancient wisdoms that when they become more accessible, they tend to lose the depth of their full understanding. Much of what is being offered for public consumption about the Law of Attraction focuses on changing one’s thought patterns. Through moving ones thoughts away from self-defeating modes and toward a self-enhancing style, a person develops a greater ability to manifest the reality they desire. This is a very important aspect in gaining freedom over one’s limitations. But for a person to move fully into “The Law of Attraction” and enjoy the benefits of inner and outer freedom, there are more angles that need to be explored.
We as humans attract on many levels of “being” simultaneously. When one works on changing their thoughts, all levels of their existence are altered. There is truth in this—yet this is not the whole truth. When looking at the Law, emotional, energetic, bodily and karmic levels need to be included in addition to the level of thought. Work on any level affects the total wholeness of a person.
At times, the different levels of ourselves can be working against each other. One can be very dedicated to working to evolve on one level while neglecting other aspects of their being. Sometimes, parts of a person can be in direct conflict to what that he or she wants to attract.
Let’s say, for example, that Mary’s third chakra is scarred and it is creating a vibration of low self-esteem. She can be using affirmations to create a better job situation. These affirmations will certainly help her mental landscape to attract a more rewarding work situation. The affirmations will also have some effect on the problems residing in her third chakra. When she is interviewing for that perfect job, Mary will be in a good mental space to secure it; however, on some level her energetic vibration is lacking. As humans, we sense on all levels whether we are conscious of it or not. Thus, the interviewer will pick up on Mary’s lack of self-esteem. This can definitely affect the outcome of her interview.
As an energetic healer, I have seen many scenarios where this dynamic has been played out. The client, in most cases, is usually confused. They very truthfully state that they have been doing the work necessary to get that perfect job (or car or state of health), yet on some level they feel they are being thwarted. In a sense, they are correct. The unfortunate side effect of having this situation happen over time is that the person then feels guilty that they are doing something wrong. The guilt feeds the issues that created the situation to begin with. They, in turn, have their low self-esteem or other issues re-enforced. The blessing of these situations is that they are pointing to areas in one’s being that need adjustment. Areas of difficulty in a person’s life are merely signs pointing to other areas where one is not fully loving oneself. By addressing the whole person on all levels, one moves into higher situations, higher self-love, and a more rewarding life.
Life is a process! That process is unfolding before each of us in order to address our growth. One cannot fail in life. The process will always bring our “lessons” back to be re-addressed, whether in this life or another. All the lessons boil down to one: self-love. We are in this incarnation to deepen our self-love and to love our whole being beyond judgment. In this state, we embrace the qualities of ourselves we enjoy and those qualities we dislike as well.
People attract situations into their lives that reflect their level of self-love. The bedrock of the Law of Attraction is “One will attract as they love themselves.” When one’s life seems painful, stuck or frustrating, they are lacking self-loving on some level. We attract dramas into our lives to show us the places we need to move deeper into in loving ourselves.
There are many avenues one can pursue to deepen self-love. Whether it is massage, energetic healing, yoga, inner child work, workshops, spiritual healing, hypnosis, 12-steps—it all leads to deeper love. As we work on our whole selves, what we attract will be more in line with our true selves.
The “Law of Attraction” is incredibly powerful. It offers humanity the freedom to grow into our highest nature. It also introduces a new level of responsibility for one’s personal growth. This responsibility and this freedom do not need to be guilt-producing propositions. The main lesson of the Law of Attraction is to love yourself into your highest potential. Through this, we move forward in the Law. It is a process, not a destination and there are a lot of opportunities available on this planet, at this time, to help in it. Play with the process. Attract, day by day, the highest life you deserve. And be free to love yourself!
