Home Grown LOVE

What is a Goddess? She is love and compassion. She is nurturing and intuition. She is the Mother of all creation. She dances to her own ancient rhythms. And if we could ask her what her favorite food would be, it would have to be chocolate.

Rebecca Sharzer is bringing home grown Goddess goodness to the world through her new confectionary company Home Grown LOVE. Her truffles are raw, vegan, organic and made with the purest ingredients‹truly food for the gods.

"I believe happiness begins with feeding ourselves nourishing foods as well as loving thoughts and intentions," says Rebecca. "Chocolate is love in the form of food." Rebecca's statement is actually backed by science. When we eat chocolate, the hormone phenylethylamine-PEA is released in the brain. The result is a feeling similar to being "in love." Theobroma Cacao, meaning "food of the Gods," has one of the highest sources of Magnesium, which supports the heart, brain, and bones. Magnesium deficiencies have been linked to post-partum depression, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), poor memory and heart problems. Consuming cacao increases alkalinity and flexibility in the body. Chocolate also aids in detoxification.

"Forty-one percent of all pharmaceutical sales are for anti-depressants," says Rebecca. "I wonder what would happen if these patients were fed pure, raw, vegan chocolate made with home-grown LOVE."

Rebecca says she creates her chocolate goodies only when she is in a calm, peaceful state. She mixes the ingredients in crystal healing bowls using wooden spoons and rolls her truffles out by hand with the help of her women friends.

Rebecca learned about the healing powers of chocolate after studying with raw foodist David Wolf (Nature's First Law) and experimenting with the effects of raw chocolate on her own. As she began to include it in her diet on a regular basis, she noticed herself maintaining greater focus, clarity, confidence and a general feeling of unconditional love throughout the day.

Home Grown LOVE products will be available at Euphoria Loves Rawvolution in Santa Monica and Erewhon in West Hollywood beginning in August 2007 as well as on-line. Their Do-It-Yourself kits come in a beautiful recycled box with individual ingredients and easy-to-read instructions for raw chocolate making on your own. Rebecca soon plans to include items in the kits which are from other female-owned, conscious businesses as well.

Ice Cream Delight the Häagen-Dazs Way

The name Häagen-Dazs® always conjures up Boulder, Colorado for me, on the Pearl Street Mall as my friends and I would take a break from our studies and cruise down the hill and treat ourselves to a little taste of heaven via ice cream. Hanging out, people watching and sharing their delectable flavors was one of the great ways we took to avoid studying for a test.

Well, Häagen-Dazs has done it again with a new line of Reserve flavors that are tropical in inspiration and continue to deliver the high standards Häagen-Dazs has set for their ingredients and flavors which they have always been known for.

Just listen to the names of their new line: Hawaiian Lehua Honey and Sweet Cream Ice Cream, Pomegranate Chip Ice Cream, Amazon Valley Chocolate Ice Cream, Brazilian Acai Berry Sorbet, Toasted Coconut Sesame Brittle Ice Cream, and one not to be missed‹their new Pomegranate Dark Chocolate Bar.

Ice cream lovers and epicurean experts alike will perceive and appreciate the craftsmanship and flavor artistry in all of the Häagen-Dazs Reserve Series products.

"While searching the globe for flavor inspirations, we've encountered exceptional ingredients that we knew would make great ice cream, but haven't been able to use because of their limited availability," says Josh Gellert, Brand Manager for Häagen-Dazs ice cream.

These super-premium products celebrate rare ingredients and unique flavor. The Amazon Valley chocolate had a rich dense flavor without the cloying sweetness of many chocolate ice creams. After serving the Coconut Sesame Brittle to some guests at my home this one was a clear crowd favorite. I liked the Hawaiian Lehua Honey and Sweet Cream but a few of my friends thought that it was too sweet. I think it would pair perfectly with a rich chocolate cake.

Summer time just cries out for late and lazy dinners outside, and what better way to end a fabulous meal than spoon-feeding your loved one some of these incredible ice creams and sorbets? I know that I can't wait to find the Pomegranate Chip Ice Cream on my grocer's shelf.

Häagen-Dazs is the original super-premium ice cream. Truly made like no other, Häagen-Dazs offers a full range of products from ice cream to sorbet, frozen yogurt and snacks in over 65 flavors. For more information, please visit www. Häagen-Dazs.com.
